Deutsche Hospitality has gained its first Scandinavian branch award. At the Nordic Hotel Investment Conference in Copenhagen, Deutsche Hospitality won an NHC Award for its successful takeover of the Scandinavian hotel group Zleep Hotels. The NHC Conference Award recognises companies which have played a leading role in the hotel sector and have made a major contribution to the development of the Nordic hotel market.
In its statement, the jury drew attention to the effective acquisition of 51 percent of the shares of the family-run Zleep Hotels by the German company. “The takeover of Zleep Hotels is the first transaction of this kind to be completed by an international provider in the Nordic countries. Zleep Hotels offers strong potential for growth, both in Scandinavia and internationally.” This prestigious branch award for Northern Europe was conferred on innovative and pioneering companies in the international hospitality industry at the Nordic Hotel Investment Conference on 8 and 9 May 2019.
“We are delighted to receive this award, because Zleep Hotels are the perfect addition to our brand portfolio,” said Deutsche Hospitality’s CEO Thomas Willms, who attended the Nordic Hotel Investment Conference in Copenhagen. “This new brand and the locations in Denmark and Sweden will enable us to expand our presence in important areas and thus offer our customers an even wider network.”
he Zleep Hotels portfolio currently includes ten hotels in Denmark and one in Sweden. Four further hotels are at the specific planning stage. The Zleep Hotels Group is based in Denmark, where it operates in the economy segment. The company was founded by Peter Haaber in 2003. The brand is characterised by service, quality and Scandinavian friendliness.
Evolution Steigenberger in Mallorca: The upcoming winter is all about renewal and renovation. The Steigenberger Hotel & Resort Camp de Mar in the southwest of the island near the picturesque fishing village of Port d’Andratx will be further modernised and will shine from February 2020 in the new Look & Feel of the Evolution Steigenberger. After the renovation in 2016, the house will be closed for three months from 10 November 2019 while further renovations take place. The reopening will be on 6 February 2020. Another four million euros will be invested in the renovation of the luxury hotel. Responsible for design concept and execution is Bachhuber Contract.
“With the further modernisation, we are creating the framework for favourable long-term positioning of the hotel with its dream location by the sea and the nearby golf course of Andratx. This also includes soft skills such as local inspiration, passionate commitment, the highest standards and unforgettable experiences,” explains Thomas Willms, CEO of Deutsche Hospitality, the umbrella brand of Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts. “With the new design, the hotel will be able to better benefit from its major location.”
Since April 2015, RIMC Hotels & Resorts has taken over the operation as a tenant and signed a franchise agreement with Deutsche Hospitality for the name Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts. Extensive renovations were already carried out in 2016. Now, onto the next step. “We are convinced that the location, as well as the product and the atmosphere, are well prepared for the future. The close cooperation of Deutsche Hospitality as a franchisor of the brand Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts is a successful partnership for this unique Steigenberger Hotel & Resort in Camp de Mar,” says Marek N. Riegger, CEO RIMC Hotels & Resorts.
After the renovation of 93 room units facing the seaside in 2016 and 2017 and the redesign of the restaurant, terrace and spa & wellness area, guests can now look forward to the 45 newly designed premium double rooms on the golf side after the closing phase in winter. The popular 17 garden terrace rooms with private sun terraces and direct access to the outdoor pool will also be renovated. The two existing Mallorca Suites with a living space of 165 m2, two bedrooms each, living room, dressing room, two terraces each and a wonderful view of the Camp de Mar bay will be completely redesigned. The resulting signature suites, like the rest of the house, will exude an elegant Mediterranean ambience and a sporty, casual yet luxurious atmosphere, where you will find the tranquillity and relaxation you desire for your holiday.
Even in the winter months, preparations for the summer season are afoot. After the redesign, the pool bar and restaurant area will not only be the hotspot of the hotel complex during a summer day, but also the place to relax in the evening and enjoy a sundowner in a chilly lounge atmosphere.
In addition, small changes will be made in various parts of the entire hotel.
Active and leisure guests
The hotel's amenities include a large outdoor and indoor pool as well as its own cycling centre for bikers. The hotel is also the perfect location for golf enthusiasts. Next to the 18-hole golf course “Golf de Andratx,” which is located in the direct vicinity of the hotel, there are nine other golf courses within a radius of 45 kilometres. The 1,400 m2 spa and wellness area, along with the spacious fitness centre equipped with the latest generation of Technogym ergometers, also offers an oasis of wellbeing. The focus of the beauty and treatment area is the MEDICAL BEAUTY concept with the latest and state-of-the-art technologies of radio frequency, cryolipolysis and magnetic field therapy, anti-pain therapy, body contouring and medical esthetic treatments offered.
Camp de Mar, with its good connection to Palma and all the hotspots on the island, is the ideal place for meetings under the Mediterranean sun. The entire conference area of 603 m2, with three light-flooded conference rooms overlooking the Mediterranean garden, a large foyer of 160 m2 and the adjoining patio will be redesigned to match the entire style concept of the house and will be equipped with the latest conference technology.
The MAXX family is growing: With the MAXX Hotel Sanssouci Potsdam, the young brand opens its third hotel after Bad Honnef and Vienna within a few months. The current Steigenberger Hotel Sanssouci Potsdam is being renovated and redesigned from the ground up. All 137 rooms of the hotel are already equipped according to the new young design, the renovation of kitchen and restaurant is completed. In the public areas, the conversion work is currently in full swing. Potsdam's new flagship will open on August 1st, 2019.

The city centre, with its young art and culture scene, is only a few metres away. Moreover, the young team around the hotel director Thomas Schneider works with a lot of passion and commitment every day towards the opening in August.”
The hotel was already part of the Deutsche Hospitality portfolio before the renovation. As part of Evolution Steigenberger, the former Steigenberger Hotel is now part of MAXX by Steigenberger.
Curtain up for fresh soft skills
Potsdam and Brandenburg also look back on a rich culinary tradition. This tradition is interpreted in a modern way in the hotel restaurant, always with ecological claim and therefore, above all regional and seasonal.
This concept can also be found in Friedrich's Bistrobar, which offers international cocktails as well as local craft beers.
Six event rooms with daylight for up to 120 people are available for seminars and incentives. If the weather is beautiful, catering can take place in the historic Kutscherhof.
